This module will cover the value of effective blood glucose monitoring of critically ill diabetic and nondiabetic patients. Dr. Barr will discuss the causes and effects of disrupted glycemic control as well as how to conduct an initial patient evaluation. He will also discuss the role of blood glucose monitoring in cases of diabetic ketoacidosis and nonketotic hyperosmolar diabetes.
